The Design Files Blog + Inside Out Magazine

this past month has been pretty special publicity-wise

The owners of a stunning Melbourne residence have been swept up by a media flurry of their newly renovated space and who should be so lucky to have their art on the wall…? Now that was the luck of the draw, hey! The artwork titled ‘The Layers Between Us’ is certainly doing the rounds.

The architectural project was featured in the October edition of Inside Out Magazine, in the article 'Big Plans' see pages 62-71.
It was also featured in Australia’s most popular design blog, The Design Files, check the Architecture section for ‘An Inner-City Terrace With Personality + Garden Views’.

HOW THE ART WAS SELECTED

Around mid 2018, the owner and I worked together in choosing the right artwork that would fit their already beautifully curated space.

They were looking for a timeless piece, one that would fit in with their neutral contemporary base but also injected character and intrigue. With its colour value differences, a blend of mark-making, opaque vs translucent paint areas along with its textural application, we soon agreed that ‘The Layers Between Us’ fit the bill.

At the time, I was not working any bigger than 30x30cm and they were hoping for something a bit grander. In a bid to meet this larger requirement we opted for a 1x1m print, elegantly framed in a natural float frame.

The piece was selected from 'The Initiate Series’ and I’m happy to share that:

Who would have thought it would get the reach it has?

I thank my lucky stars, along with the stylists
and interior designers who kept my artwork in the shots.
